The Bristol Blues is a Vintage Base Ball Club from Bristol, RI. Now in their tenth season, the Blues offer baseball fans a unique and exciting look at the sport's origins through live, competitive ballgames played in the style of the Civil War era through the late 1800's.
Games are played from April through September on Bristol Common in historic Bristol, Rhode Island, and throughout Southern New England and New York. Admission is always free, and all ages are welcome.
A Bristol Blues base ball doubleheader is a fun, family friendly event. The ballplayers enjoy interacting with fans and with one another in the "gentlemanly" spirit of the day, and the lively action (an average nine inning contest takes only 90 minutes to play!) keeps the crowds buzzing. Children are always welcome to participate in pre and post-game hitting and fielding fun, and adults are encouraged to ask questions and learn from the ballplayers about the rules, customs and traditions of the game.
The Blues were founding members of the New England Vintage Base Ball League. They play without gloves, without contracts, and without fear. This is Base Ball the way it was meant to be played.
